Pure Protein Vanilla Shake

Pure Protein is not a new name in the protein game. In fact, they were one of the earliest brands that I can remember when it came to protein bars.

In my mind, Pure Protein is the perfect introduction to protein bars. They won’t blow you away like other bars out there, but they’re cheap and taste above average, so they get my recommendation.

I had never tried their protein shakes before, so I decided to change that. Pure Protein offers a few different flavors, but I was only able to find vanilla milkshake at my local store, so that is what I am reviewing here.

Pure Protein Shake Macros

Nutritionally, Pure Protein shakes are extremely impressive. Much like Quest and Premier Protein, these shakes offer 30 grams of protein. But unlike its competitors, this shake contains only 140 calories, making it one of the best protein sources out there.

Additionally, Pure Protein adds a ton of vitamins and minerals into their shakes, meaning you get even more bang for your buck.

To be honest, I was expecting this shake to be pretty bad. I’ve had my fair share of mediocre protein shakes, so I was prepared to be disappointed by this. Surprisingly, this shake reminded me of Quest’s protein shakes, but with a slightly better flavor profile.

The texture was smooth, and the vanilla taste was distinct without being overpowering. It’s clear that you’re drinking a protein shake, but it doesn’t have the same chalky or powdery taste that some other brands do.

The overall experience was similar to drinking a Premier Protein shake, which I consider to be one of the better options out there. Pure Protein Shakes might not quite reach the same level as Premier Protein, but they’re not that far off.

One thing I appreciated about these shakes was the absence of a slimy mouthfeel that can sometimes come with protein shakes. While the flavor isn’t on par with something like Fairlife Core Power (easily the best shake out there), it’s definitely palatable and easy to drink regularly.

If you’re in the market for a high-protein, low-calorie shake that actually tastes good, Pure Protein Shakes are definitely worth considering. Considering they can be found on the cheaper side (around $2 each) and are readily available in most supplement and grocery stores, there is certainly appeal here.

While they might not be quite as delicious as some other brands, like Premier Protein or Fairlife Core Power, they still hold their own in the flavor department. They might not be the absolute best protein shakes on the market, but they’re a step above many others I’ve tried.

With 140 calories and 30 grams of protein, these shakes are a very easy way to get protein into your day without going overboard on calories. You won’t be fooled into thinking you’re enjoying an actual milkshake, but I was surprised by just how drinkable these shakes truly were.

I am shocked to admit that Pure Protein shakes are one of the better tasting protein shakes I've tried. The flavor will certainly not blow you away like Fairlife, but for an option with 140 calories and 30 grams of protein, it is surprisingly drinkable.
