Ah, the taste of nostalgia packed into a high-protein, keto-friendly treat. Meet the Marsh Mallow Krisp Bar from Sinless Snacks.
This promises to be just like a Rice Krispies Treat, but with a high-protein, keto-friendly spin for us adults.
Now, I’ve tried other bars before that have promised the same. Most notably, I tried ONE Crunch Bars, which I must admit were very impressive in terms of flavor. But, they certainly did not eat like a light & fluffy Rice Krispies Treat.
So, let’s see if Sinless Snacks can change that.
In terms of macros, this is an extremely impressive bar. I mean, it’s a pretty generous size, and the entire thing contains only 80 calories and has 9 grams of protein.
Plus, it isn’t loaded up with an insane amount of fiber like other bars- 6 grams is a solid amount for what I’m after.
If the taste can deliver as well as the macros, we’re in for a real treat (see what I did there?)
If we’re judging on looks alone, they absolutely nailed this. I mean, outside of the obvious omission of melty marshmallow, this looks like the real thing.
This bar is surprisingly chewy. It doesn’t quite crumble in your mouth like a classic marshmallow treat would.
You definitely get a subtle artificial aftertaste in these. Not so much that it’s off-putting, just enough to remind you that you’re eating a healthier alternative.
Texture-wise, it’s a bit of a love-hate relationship. Imagine munching on a protein cereal that gets slightly stuck in your teeth as you chew it.. that’s kind of what the “krispies” in these bars remind me of.
But despite these little quirks, this bar has a lot going for it.
First, it smells EXACTLY like a Rice Krispy Treat, which makes my inner child very happy. Second, the initial bite has that light, airy feel that we all know and love, and the bar falls apart pretty easily.
Unfortunately, the chewiness of the crisps does take away from that nostaglic taste a bit.
But hey, it’s all about the trade-offs, right? We’re talking an 80-calorie snack with a whopping 9 grams of protein. For the macro-conscious among us, that’s not something you shrug off. I found myself happily enjoying these bars until the box was empty.
Since those are both keto-friendly and gluten-free, I can see these being an amazing option for anyone searching for a snack within those categories. Sure, the artificial taste is there, but it’s not overpowering. It gives you enough of that rice krispy flavor to keep you coming back for more.
On the downside, these bars come with a heftier price tag than some might like, running almost $3 each. Given that they pack half the calories and protein of many full-size protein bars, some might find the cost hard to justify.
In the grand scheme of things, Sinless Snacks Marsh Mallow Krisp Bar is a good pick if you’re looking for a low-calorie, high-protein, and keto-friendly snack. Just brace yourself for a slightly different texture and be ready to fork over a bit more cash.
Overall, though, this bar manages to deliver enough nostalgic flavor reminiscent of our beloved Rice Krispies Treats that I think they’re worth trying. I wouldn’t mind if they improved the overall flavor a bit to be a little less artificial tasting, even if it came at the expense of the macros, so time will tell.
