Update: I originally reviewed these bars in July of 2022, but have updated my review with the most recent formulation in August 2024.
It’s been two years since I first tried Fulfil protein bars, and I’m back to share my updated thoughts on these now-popular protein bars.
Fulfil has been making waves in the protein bar market, and with good reason. They’ve recently reformulated their bars, so it’s time to revisit and see how they stack up now.
For those who aren’t familiar, Fulfil bars have been around for a while in the UK, but they’ve only recently made their way into the US market. You can now find them at a ton of retailers like Vitamin Shoppe, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Amazon, and likely a bunch more.

Each Fulfil bar packs about 160 calories and 15g of protein, making them a solid choice for a high-protein snack. They’re a bit smaller than your average protein bar, which some people might appreciate as a quick snack to take on the go.
Personally, I like that these are smaller, because I don’t always want a full meal replacement in a 200-300 calorie protein bar.

One exciting note since my last review is that Fulfil is now made by Ferrero, the masterminds behind delicious chocolates and, of course, Nutella.
Needless to say, my expectations for the hazelnut flavor are now through the roof.
Chocolate Salted Caramel Fulfil Bar

Unlike my original experience with this flavor when I found the salt flavor lacking, the salt definitely comes through in this flavor now – maybe a little too much for my liking. I’m a fan of salted caramel, but this one strikes me as overly salty.
The bar is pretty thick and chewy overall, but I do enjoy the flavor, and the crunchy bits on top add a fun texture. You can see some “caramel” on top of the bar, but it’s missing a true caramel layer, which is a bit of a letdown for a caramel-flavored bar.
It’s interesting to note the change from my first review. Originally, I didn’t taste much salt, and now it seems like they’ve swung in the opposite direction. I’d love to see them find a sweet spot with this flavor.
But hey, if you’re a fan of salty flavor, this may be perfect for you.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Fulfil Bar (Original vs Reese’s Formula)
The chocolate peanut butter flavor has come a long way since the original version. When it first launched, I wasn’t a fan and found the peanut butter flavor to be severely lacking, but Fulfil updated the bar to a delicious peanut butter flavor.

The flavor combo of peanut butter and chocolate is exactly what I was hoping for, and paired with a soft & chewy texture, I really have no complaints.
Well, I didn’t have complaints, until the most recent change.
This peanut butter Fulfil bar now advertises that it is made with Reese’s peanut butter. That is a very exciting thing to me as a lover of Reese’s.
We’ve seen Reese’s enter the protein bar game already with Reese’s ONE Bars, but now we have a protein bar that I already like infused with Reese’s peanut butter? Sign me up!

The only issue with this bar: I don’t believe it’s actually any different.
Looking at the photos, the Reese’s version is noticeably dryer, but I don’t want to place too much emphasis on that because sometimes you just get unlucky with where you purchased a bar from and how long it has been sitting.
But flavor-profile wise, this is the same exact bar as the previous chocolate peanut butter bar, and nothing about it says “Reese’s” to me other than the logo on the label.
Did they make changes to this bar? Maybe. But if you didn’t know there was supposedly Reese’s peanut butter in this, you would never be able to identify it.
Without the Reese’s logo, this is a solid peanut butter protein bar. But with the expectation of Reese’s flavor, this becomes disappointing.
Chocolate Peanut Caramel Fulfil Bar

This flavor is Fulfil’s take on a candy bar (given the combo of chocolate, peanuts, and caramel), and it’s much improved from the original.
The inside is soft and gooey, but it’s essentially just nougat throughout rather than containing a true caramel layer.
With the flavor name, I was really hoping for a stretchy caramel layer like the Barebells Soft Bar.
Despite these minor issues, I thoroughly enjoyed this bar, whereas I was pretty unimpressed with the original.
The overall texture and flavor have definitely been upgraded, and while a little bit on the chewy side, it does eat like a candy bar. While I’d love to see it evolve further to eat more like a true candy bar with distinct layers, it’s a solid choice as is.
Chocolate Hazelnut Fulfil Bar

I thought the Chocolate Peanut Caramel was going to be my new favorite… until I tried the Chocolate Hazelnut again. This flavor was my favorite when I first tried these bars, and it still stands alone at the top. It’s simply awesome.
While it’s still a bit chewy, it’s super soft, and the chocolate hazelnut flavor gives off serious Nutella vibes. Texturally, it kind of reminds me of eating soft fudge, which I am certainly not mad about.
I’m not entirely sure if anything changed from the original formula because I loved it then and I still love it now, but hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Considering Ferrero makes both these bars and Nutella, I’m not surprised it’s so delicious. If you’re a fan of chocolate hazelnut flavors, this is definitely the Fulfil bar to try.
Triple Chocolate Fulfil Bar

Fulfil’s newest addition to the lineup is triple chocolate- I haven’t tried the updated formula just yet, so here are my original thoughts from when I first tried this flavor:
The flavor of the bar reminds me of a really delicious milk chocolate, which is a nice change of pace from most bars that tend to taste more like bitter dark chocolate.
I prefer milk chocolate because I have a big sweet tooth, and the flavor of this bar reminds me a bit of those chocolate bunnies you get around Easter.
There’s a saltiness to the bar that also compliments it perfectly because chocolate and salt go hand-in-hand. But the flavor isn’t the only aspect of this bar, there is also the texture.
…and it’s just too darn thick.
If Fulfil could find a way to make these protein bars softer, like Barebells, they’d be one of the best protein bars out because the flavor is awesome.
I really love the flavor of this bar, but it’s just too thick & dense. If Fulfil was able to improve that, it would be an absolute home run.
Fulfil Protein Bars: Overall Thoughts

Fulfil bars have come a long way since my original review a few years ago. While they’re still pretty similar overall, I definitely think they’ve improved the flavor profiles across the board.
One thing to note is that the texture can be hit or miss depending on the flavor and possibly where they’re shipped from. Sometimes they can be too thick & chewy, while other times they’re beautifully soft, reminiscent of Barebells bars.
The chocolate coating on these bars is delicious, which isn’t surprising given Ferrero’s expertise in the chocolate department. The one thing holding them back from being truly elite is still their occasionally chewy nature, but the flavors are great in my opinion.
These are one of those protein bars that won’t knock you off your feet, but will consistently satisfy your tastebuds and your sweet tooth.
While I’d still rank them a tier below Barebells, Fulfil bars are delicious protein bars in their own right. I actually appreciate their smaller, snack-size nature, but I could see some people not preferring that due to the lower protein count.
If you’re after a protein bar that can satisfy your sweet tooth and eats like a candy bar (most of the time), Fulfil bars may just be the answer you’re looking for. They’ve definitely upped their game since my last review, and I’m excited to see where they take these next.
